<P>《王的男人》这部电影是韩国历史上票房最高的一部影片，超过了张东健和元彬主演的《太极旗》，李俊基也因在此片中扮演“王的男人”——孔吉而一炮走红喔！！ 到目前已经在台湾上映，因此涉及到敏感题材，所以内地大概不会引进。但是关于《王的男人》的小说，主题曲“姻缘”，电影片断在网上广为流传。\</P>

<P>身为贱民的艺人孔吉和长生原本是在市集小有名气的杂耍艺人，因为不肯加入当地的艺人团而与人结怨继而来到京城汉阳。此时暴君燕山宠爱艺妓张绿水，朝纲混乱，贪官污吏横行。</P>
<P> 长生与孔吉二人在街头开始表演讽刺燕山王和张绿水的喜剧，大受欢迎的同时被朝中官员以对王不敬的罪名抓捕，在被杖刑时长生无畏的大声斥责官员昏庸，却因此被该大臣释放，并要求他们去大王面前表演。
原因是在他们之前有许多艺人在王面前表演，全都因为害怕王的残暴而表演僵硬无法使王露出笑容，许多人因此受罚。大臣希望两人能让王开怀笑。两人在表演时也不能让王露出笑容，最后向来斯文的孔吉却急中生智，用演技让王大笑。两人随即被王留在宫中让王取乐，孔吉更是因为美貌令王倍加宠爱。</P>
<P> 然而，大臣要求他们利用机会不断向王进谏。不久二人排演一段后宫女人因为嫉妒而互相残害的剧目，不料燕山却想起当年自己生母也是遭遇嫉妒而被毒杀之事凶性大发当即杀死了两个后宫。于是宫中传出了戏子诱惑王残杀的传言。虽然受到王的宠爱，但是被称为戏子的他们在宫中毫无地位可言，孔吉用献出身体的代价成为了喜乐堂的主人，得到燕山御赐的“肆身横宽”的殊荣。并将喜乐堂并入政府管理,孔吉好像可以管理全国艺人的样子.</P>
<P> 但是一直在孔吉身边看着爱慕他的长生认为孔吉已经被权力蒙蔽了眼睛忘记了自己的身份，决定要离开他。此时原本为后宫最受宠爱的张绿水打算夺回燕山的爱情。想在庆祝樱花的宴会上脱去孔吉的衣服来羞辱他……因为长生的缘故没有成功。</P>
<P> 接着，张绿水又与内宫合作伪造了孔吉笔记的诽谤燕山与绿水自己的书画册，结果燕山为了找寻嫌犯不仅禁止使用文言文，而且在宫中打开杀戒。孔吉为了制止燕山的杀戮，承认自己是那本诽谤书的作者……长生替孔吉死去……孔吉看着用妃子的身体挡箭的燕山，最终将箭射向了别处……了无生趣的孔吉用割腕的方式追随最爱自己的师兄而去…… </P>
